As a former professional baseball player, I know the power that a negative mindset can have all too well. The lack of a strong positive mentality can be career-ending. With an extensive background in coaching, from youth athletes to Fortune 500 CEOs, I empower individuals of all ages to live their best lives and play their best games. I help develop positive self-image and self-worth to push people to become the best versions of themselves. I help advance the on-field performance of athletes through age/position-specific workouts, mental skill development, and 1-on-1 consulting.
START A CONVERSATION WITH JAAs a former professional baseball player, I know the power that a negative mindset can have. The fear of messing up, letting down teammates and parents, or striking out is powerful. The lack of a strong positive mentality can be, as I’ll be the first to say, career-ending. Fear is the very thing that limited my career, along with many other athletes who were athletically gifted, but lacked the proper mentality to persevere. With an extensive background in coaching, from youth athletes to Fortune 500 CEOs, I empower individuals of all ages to live their best lives and play their best games.
Today, I help advance the on-field performance of athletes through age/position-specific workouts, mental skill development, and 1-on-1 consulting. I help develop positive self-image and self-worth to push people to become the best versions of themselves. Athletic ability and performance-driven development are pillars of Mint’s philosophy, but the heartbeat of our mission is to foster a mindset of growth and tenacity that is not only crucial for the game of baseball, but for the game of life.
For years, my wife Jessica and I have run multiple businesses that all aim to help those around us. These include a CrossFit Gym, a program for mothers, a nutrition and health company, and a baseball facility.
We have two boys who encourage us to be better everyday. They are extremely active and naturally gravitate towards sports. I preach to them the same things I preach to the young men I work with. To compete for the things you love.
I have strived to live by the very methods that I help my clients to develop, and the Emmons family is run by the principles that I teach to others.
My son had not played little league before. At tryouts, he sobbed and told me he never wanted to go on another baseball field for the rest of his life. Then he met his coach, Coach Emmons.
Coach Emmons eased my son’s fears, as well as mine. He helped give my son the courage to just try. That’s all he asked. Because of Coach Emmons, or Coach JA, as the kids call him, I’ve watched my son grow both as a player, and as a human. He has a newfound confidence that I have prayed he would find somewhere in his life. He’s no longer an anxious, scared little boy, but a confident young man, that looks forward to going out on the field every time. I can never thank Coach Emmons enough for helping my son and encouraging him. Even when mistakes are made, he finds a way to make the experience positive and help the kids learn from it.
